UEFA Euro 2020 Semi Final
England v Denmark
Wembley Stadium
London, England
7 July 2021

Its semi final time and the first SF since well....errr the UEFA Nations League final against the Dutch in 2019 and before that there was the SF in Russia against Croatia in 2018. Both those ended in harsh exits, so maybe this time it really is our time.

Ticket allocations for this match had ramped up significantly to 65000, which is approximately two thirds of capacity but it felt to me that many, many more had managed to jib into a bloated Wembley Stadium. It was to be the one and only match where our seats had been stolen by other England fans. More later!

Wembley has been basking in sunshine all day and just before eight in the evening the sun is still shining on the England faithful during the anthems. The writing is on the wall.

It is match day and as the train rolls out of Grantham the cider is cracked

Euro 20 helpers are on site at Kings Cross station

We stop off for a cheeky one at the Stag's Head near the BT Tower
The last time we were here was for the Czech game in the group stages when we had a 'lock-in' and all caught COVID. Isolation complete and we are back on the razz.
After booking into our digs at Dawson House we head to the meeting point in Kilburn
The function room is all ours courtesy of our mr fixit (Tommo)
Left to right around the table: me, Sunderland Tommo, West Ham Smudge, Smudge's boy, unknown, unknown, West Ham Paul, West Ham Neil, West Ham Gary, Watford Paul

West Ham Neil - good selfie skills
The atmosphere is outstanding the only downside is that a group of Southampton fans have stolen our seats and refused to move. This caused some unsavoury scenes.
To the East from the South
To the West from the South
North stand scoreboard straight ahead has Denmark in the lead
During the events which led to us re-gaining out seats I had my lucky hat stolen. Slightly annoying😡
At 65 mins it is all square when an OG by Kjaer in the 39th minute cancelled out Damsgaard's free kick.
After England's momentous win the FA were fined €30,000 after a laser was pointed at Schmeichel, the Danish anthem was booed and these fireworks were let off from the perimeter of the stadium.
England's 55 year wait to reach a major men's final is over at last after victory against Denmark. Smeichel made brilliant saves against Harry Kane and Harry Macquire and the game went into extra time. In the 103rd minute Raheem Sterling was upended and Kane stood up to smash the rebound home after a weak penalty was parried by Schmeichel. 2:1 England.
